Tigerlily Foundation, New Brand, Same Mission.
Dear Friends,
We are so excited about this upcoming year and inspired by our community of fearless friends and warriors. As you may notice, Tigerlily Foundation has a new look. Our new branding and initiatives have come after thoughtful reflection on who we are, who we support and what our true goals are. First, we want to make sure that girls and young women have healthy lifestyles, know their risk factors, and live a life that puts the power in their own hands when it comes to their overall health. Secondly, we want to be a knowledge base and a support to young women diagnosed with breast cancer – at any stage, of any race, religion, sexual orientation or ethnic background; and third, we want you to live your best life going forward, using your diagnosis as a catalyst.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago, I was scared out of my mind. I was a single mother with a then 3 year old daughter. I was working a job that was unfulfilling to my soul. I’d always wanted to help people, but I didn’t know how. I didn’t feel that I was living my purpose and my passion. I also didn’t have a clear vision or path for what I wanted to do. After I learned I had Stage IIB, triple negative breast cancer, I felt an urgency about life that I had not felt before. I no longer lived with the fantasy that I could control how much time I had left on this Earth, but I knew that no matter what happened, I would live a life that I designed. Within a few months of my diagnosis, I created Tigerlily Foundation, while still in treatment, left my full-time corporate, cozy job, and now it’s 10 years later. I’m not advocating for anyone to do what I did career-wise. It’s risky and it’s scary. What I want for you to consider – whatever your life situation is, is this: what would you do if you didn’t have the time you thought you did? What do you dream of doing when you’re alone? What excites you? What would you do if you knew that you might be dying? What legacy do you want to leave for the world’s children?
Tigerlily Foundation is the intersection of breast health education, women’s health, advocacy, empowerment and transformation. We are here to give you the tools that will help you to never feel alone. My vision is that in the next year, we will have reached people on a national and global scale. Our work is to elevate how humanity sees cancer. We are not a disease… we are vibrant young women, who, touched by this disease, decided to rise up and form an army of angels.
You, our Army of Angels, are our guide, you’re the compass for the future. We value your thoughts, your expertise and your input. Join us, and let us know how we can better serve you –at every stage of your life. We are launching some amazing programs this year, to complement our current programs. Take a look at our Programs page, and learn about our metastatic outreach program – MY LIFE; our Pink Power Alerts; PETALS Program, Glam Van, Metastatic Roadshow, Have the Chat and other initiatives and let us know how you can help.
We are excited about how we can impact the course of young women’s health with you by our side.
Let’s be the change we seek.
With much love,
Maimah
